INDEPENDENT APPLIANCE REPAIRS SINCE 1987

Appliance Brands We Repair on the Central Coast

We are an independent repairer, not an authorised agent for any manufacturer, so we are not limited to one badge. If it is a major household brand we almost certainly repair it, and if it is an unusual one it is still worth a phone call.

You'll speak to the technician, not a call centre.

Servicing Patonga to Berkeley Vale

Independent, so the brand is rarely the problem

If it has a badge on it, ask us.

John Hull Electrics repairs appliances from every major brand sold in Australia, in homes across the NSW Central Coast, from Patonga to Berkeley Vale to Somersby. We are an independent repairer, so we are not tied to one manufacturer. Bosch and Miele parts are stocked in the service van. Call 0410 441 205.

Every major brand

We are not an authorised agent for anyone, which means no manufacturer decides what we will and will not look at. The list below is where we started, not where it stops.

  • No manufacturer restrictions
  • Premium, budget and store brands
  • Ask about anything not listed here

Bosch and Miele parts in the van

The two brands we stock parts for, because they are the ones most worth repairing and the ones people wait longest for elsewhere.

  • Parts carried in the service van
  • No factory booking queue
  • Independent, not an authorised agent

Older and unusual appliances

Brands that are no longer sold here, or models old enough that most repairers will not bother. Worth a call before you write it off.

  • Brands no longer sold here
  • Models most repairers will not touch
  • Worth a call before you replace it

The brands we see most

Grouped by what we actually see on the Central Coast rather than alphabetically, because that is more useful when you are trying to work out whether we can help.

Bosch and Miele

The two premium German brands, and the only two we stock parts for in the service van. Both are built to be repaired and both hold their value, which is why a repair almost always beats a replacement. We are an independent repairer for both, not an authorised agent. More on Miele repairs and Bosch repairs.

Fisher & Paykel

Very common on the Coast, including the DishDrawer dishwashers that almost nobody else wants to touch. New Zealand made, well established here, and a brand we see every week.

Westinghouse, Chef and Simpson

The names in most Australian kitchens, and the ones we are called out to more than any others. Ovens, cooktops, washing machines and dryers across all three.

Electrolux and AEG

European and widely sold here, often built into the cabinetry rather than freestanding. Both turn up regularly across ovens, dishwashers and laundry.

LG and Samsung

Electronics-heavy machines, which means control boards, sensors and displays account for a larger share of the faults than motors and belts do. That is a different kind of diagnosis, and it is one worth doing properly before ordering a part.

Hisense and Haier

Newer to the Australian market and increasingly common, particularly in fridges. We repair both, and we see more of them every year.

Smeg, Asko, Blanco and Omega

Often built into the cabinetry, which is exactly the situation where a repair is worth far more than a replacement, because replacing means matching a size that may no longer be made.

And the rest

Euromaid, Dishlex, Beko, Hoover, Whirlpool, Belling, Kleenmaid, Panasonic, Siemens and any other major brand sold here. If your brand is not named anywhere on this page, ring and ask rather than assuming. We also service and repair air conditioning, whatever the brand on the unit.

The brand matters less than you think

People ring worried that we will not touch their brand. Being independent means we are not tied to one manufacturer, so the badge on the front is rarely what decides anything.

What actually decides it is parts. Whether a part is still made for that model, and whether it can be got in a sensible time. That is a question about the model and its age, not about the brand.

A three year old premium machine is usually easier to source parts for than a twelve year old budget one, even though the budget one cost far less to buy in the first place. That is the thing worth knowing before you decide between repairing and replacing.

Tell us the brand and the model number when you ring and we can usually tell you where you stand on that call, before anyone comes out.

What to have ready when you ring

Four things that let us answer properly on the phone.

  • The brand
  • The model number, usually on a sticker
  • Roughly how old the appliance is
  • What it is actually doing

If your brand is not on this list, that does not mean we will not repair it. It means nobody has asked us about it often enough to put it here. Ring and ask. What happens when you call

1

Tell us what it's doing

Ring 0410 441 205, seven days, 7am to 7pm. Tell us the brand, the model number and what the appliance is doing. You will speak to the technician, and we will tell you the service call fee straight up.

2

Get a real time, not a maybe

We will tell you when we can be there while you are still on the phone. If we are booked out we will say so rather than string you along.

3

We come to the appliance

We repair appliances where they are, built-in ones included. Nothing gets pulled out of the cabinetry and carted off to a workshop.

4

Back working, backed in writing

Every repair carries our 12 month warranty on parts and labour. If the same fault comes back, so do we.

Brand and repair FAQs

Do you repair every brand?

Close to it. We are an independent repairer, so no manufacturer restricts what we will look at. Where we genuinely cannot help is when parts for that model are no longer made anywhere, and that is a question about the model and its age rather than the brand. We will tell you on the phone.

Are you an authorised service agent?

No, and that is deliberate. We are independent, which means we repair every brand rather than one, and you are not waiting in a manufacturer's booking queue to get seen. Some brands do have authorised agents on the Coast, and if your appliance is still under manufacturer's warranty that is who you should ring first.

Does using an independent repairer affect my warranty?

If your appliance is still inside its manufacturer's warranty, ring the manufacturer first. That repair should cost you nothing, and there is no sense paying us for something you are already entitled to. We will tell you that on the phone rather than take the job. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law apply regardless of who you call.

Where do I find my model number?

Usually on a sticker or a metal plate. On an oven it is around the door frame, on a washing machine or dryer it is behind the door or on the back, on a fridge it is inside along the wall, and on a dishwasher it is on the edge of the door. Take a photo of it and you will not have to go looking twice.

My appliance is old. Can you still get parts?

Often, yes. Parts availability depends on the model and how long it has been out of production, not on how old the appliance feels. Some fifteen year old machines are still well supported and some five year old ones are not. Give us the model number and we can usually tell you before we come out.

Do you repair brands that are no longer sold in Australia?

Where parts can still be got, yes. Brands come and go from the Australian market and the appliances stay in kitchens for years afterwards. It is worth a call before you write one off, because an appliance nobody sells any more is often still perfectly repairable.

Do you charge more for premium brands?

No. The service call fee is the same whatever the badge says. Parts cost what parts cost, and a Miele part is usually dearer than a Simpson one, but that is the part rather than us. Everything is quoted before any work starts.

How quickly can you get to me?

Ring us and you will know before you hang up. We answer the phone seven days, 7am to 7pm, and repairs are booked Monday to Friday. If we cannot get to you as fast as you need, we will say so on the call.

Which suburbs do you cover?

We repair appliances in homes across the Central Coast, including Gosford, Erina, Terrigal, Woy Woy, Umina Beach and the surrounding suburbs, from Patonga in the south to Berkeley Vale in the north and Somersby in the west.

Broken appliance? Let's get it fixed.

One call, a straight answer, and a service van full of parts. That's how it's worked since 1987.
