Microwave and Rangehood Repairs Central Coast
Microwave stopped heating, rangehood fan given up, or something else in the house that has simply stopped working? If it runs off power and it has broken, it is worth a phone call. We repair the odd jobs other repairers turn away, in your home, across the Central Coast since 1987.
You'll speak to the technician, not a call centre.

Common faults we fix
Different appliances, but the fault list is shorter than you would think. Most of it comes down to motors, switches, controls and the circuit behind them.
Microwave not heating
The most common microwave call we take. The turntable turns and the light comes on, but nothing gets hot. Usually the magnetron, the high voltage diode or the capacitor, and all three are real repairs rather than a reason to throw it out.
Turntable not turning
The microwave heats but the plate sits still. Nearly always the turntable motor or the coupler underneath it, and it is one of the cheaper faults on this list.
Rangehood fan not working
Lights on, no extraction. Usually the fan motor, the speed switch, or a capacitor that has failed. On a ducted rangehood it can also be the ducting rather than the appliance.
Rangehood lights not working
Lights out, fan fine. Rangehood lights are often an unusual fitting rather than a standard globe, which is why people give up on them. They are replaceable.
Weak or noisy extraction
Extraction that has quietly got worse, or a rangehood that has started to roar. Filters that have never been washed, a fan out of balance, or ducting that has come adrift in the ceiling.
Touch controls not responding
Buttons that need pressing three times, or a panel that has gone dead altogether. Touch membranes and control boards both fail, and they fail differently, so it is worth knowing which before ordering a part.
Error codes and dead displays
A code on the display, or a display that has gone blank while the appliance still runs. Worth reading properly rather than guessing, because the same code means different things across brands.
Tripping the safety switch
An appliance that trips the safety switch the moment you turn it on. Your technician is a licensed electrician as well as an appliance repairer, so the appliance and the circuit both get checked rather than one being blamed for the other.
Some appliances are worth repairing, and some are not
Microwaves are where this question comes up most, and the honest answer depends entirely on which microwave you have.
A benchtop microwave from the supermarket costs less than a service call. We will tell you that on the phone rather than take the job, because there is no version of that repair that leaves you better off.
A built-in microwave is a completely different thing. It sits in a cabinetry stack, it was matched to the oven beside it, and replacing it can mean replacing both or paying a joiner to make a different size fit. Those are almost always worth repairing. Rangehoods sit in the middle: a fan motor, a switch or a set of lights is usually a straightforward fix, and a ducted or island rangehood is expensive to replace for reasons that have nothing to do with the appliance.
That call gets made on the phone, before anyone comes out. If your appliance is not worth fixing, you will hear it then rather than after a service call.
Usually worth repairing
The ones where replacing costs far more than the appliance.
- Built-in and integrated microwaves
- Ducted and island rangehoods
- Anything built into the cabinetry
- Premium brands with parts support
Brands we repair
We are an independent repairer, so the brand is rarely the problem.
And every other major brand sold in Australia. Bosch and Miele appliances are built to be repaired and hold their value, which is why we carry parts for them. More on Miele repairs and Bosch repairs, or see every appliance we repair on the Central Coast.
What happens when you call
Tell us what it's doing
Ring 0410 441 205, seven days, 7am to 7pm. Tell us what the appliance is, the brand, and what it is doing. You will speak to the technician, and we will tell you the service call fee straight up. If it is not worth repairing, we will say so on that call.
Get a real time, not a maybe
We will tell you when we can be there while you are still on the phone. If we are booked out we will say so rather than string you along.
We come to the appliance
We repair appliances where they are, built-in and over-range ones included. Nothing gets pulled out of the cabinetry and carted off to a workshop.
Back working, backed in writing
Every repair carries our 12 month warranty on parts and labour. If the same fault comes back, so do we.
What Central Coast locals say
Appliance repair FAQs
What does a microwave repair cost on the Central Coast?
We charge a service call fee and we will tell you exactly what it is when you ring, before we come out. Parts and labour are quoted before any work starts. For a cheap benchtop microwave we will usually tell you on the phone that it is not worth the call.
Is it worth repairing a microwave?
It depends which one. A benchtop microwave from the supermarket costs less than a service call, so no. A built-in microwave sitting in a cabinetry stack is a different story, because replacing it often means matching a size that is no longer made. Those are almost always worth fixing, and we will tell you which one you have before we come out.
Why has my rangehood stopped extracting?
Lights on and no airflow is usually the fan motor, the speed switch or a failed capacitor. On a ducted rangehood it can also be the ducting itself, which comes adrift in the ceiling more often than people expect. Filters that have never been washed will do it too.
My rangehood lights have gone and I cannot replace them. Can you?
Yes. Rangehood lights are often an unusual fitting rather than a standard globe, which is why this is one of the jobs people give up on. They are replaceable, and it is a small job.
Do you repair built-in and over-range microwaves?
Yes, and we repair them where they sit. A built-in microwave is the one most worth fixing, because it was matched to the cabinetry and the oven beside it, so replacing it is rarely a straight swap.
Do you repair small appliances like kettles and toasters?
We can look at anything that runs off power, but we will be straight with you: a service call costs more than most small benchtop appliances. Where that is the case we will say so on the phone rather than come out. Larger and built-in appliances are where a repair actually saves you money.
What other appliances do you repair?
Ovens, stoves and cooktops, washing machines, dryers, fridges, freezers, dishwashers and air conditioning all have their own pages. This page covers microwaves, rangehoods, and the appliances that do not fit anywhere else. If you are not sure, ring and ask.
How quickly can you get to me?
Ring us and you will know before you hang up. We answer the phone seven days, 7am to 7pm, and repairs are booked Monday to Friday. If we cannot get to you as fast as you need, we will say so on the call.
Which suburbs do you cover?
We repair appliances in homes across the Central Coast, including Gosford, Erina, Terrigal, Woy Woy, Umina Beach and the surrounding suburbs, from Patonga in the south to Berkeley Vale in the north and Somersby in the west.
